Australasian Gannet 1

In Australia, gannets breed in dense colonies on islands off Victoria and Tasmania. These gannets have made a home at Pope's Eye, which is an old fort located at the entrance of Port Philip Bay.

Australasian Gannet 13

Gannets can dive from a height of 30 metres, reaching speeds of 100 kilometres per hour, as they hit the water to catch fish. They can catch fish much deeper than other seabirds.
